tilt-shift love

As you may or may not know, I'm participating in the October 2010 Photo Hunt.  It's been a very neat experience so far, although I'm quite behind in getting all of my photos taken for the month - Eek, it's not the 21st by chance, is it?  Goodness.  I need to get moving.

But anyways, I was rather scared of a certain assignment by the name of "Tilt-Shift photography".  After doing a bit of research and finding out what the heck it was (*blushes with embarrassment*) I got freaked out.  How on earth was I going to achieve this - without photoshop?

In all my excitement, I forgot about a link I had been given to an actual Tilt-Shift maker.  After finally heading on over, I was a little relieved.  It seemed that they did the whole thing for you.  I had hope.

So, after taking this shot while on a bike-ride the other day, I decided to give it a try.  I did a quick, basic edit...

xposure 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture f/14.0
Focal Length 135 mm
ISO Speed 400}

And then headed over to  And uploaded my picture.  And had the jitters.

But for absolutely no reason at all; a moment later I was looking at this...

a first attempt
It worked like magic, and only required a few little adjustments on my part.  Then I just downloaded it onto my computer to gaze at.  Yes, Hannah, you actually took this picture.

I'm kind of excited. And I have another item to check off the list, which is undeniably satisfying, too;)

Have you ever tried Tilt-Shift Photography before?  Do share!  And if you're new, does a wonderful job of explaining and creating everything for you.

And have a lovely Thursday, sweet friends!

  1. I know how to do tilt-shift, but I've never had a photo that it looked right with... :/ Your photo with the boat looks perfect with it, though! I really love it. :D

  2. I think it looks great - I have yet to capture this particular item but I think you worked it out!

  3. I have never heard of 'tilt-shift' before, but the idea is really cool! I really do like your photo of the boat, it turned out awesome. =)
Thanks for sharing and God Bless!

    Sister in Christ,

  4. I've actually never even heard of it either until now! But I think it looks so cool. You did a great job!

  5. I love tilt shift! I tried a few earlier, but they didn't really work. I think I have good picture for it, but I haven't gotten a chance to try it again...

  6. I do know somehow makes everything in a photo small..well, I have to say that everything looks...err, cute! I don't really want to go through photoshop doing this, so thankyou for sharing a website that you used!

    ~have a great day!

  7. Whats the link to the October Item Photo Hunt???
